The Manners of Eating and Drinking  (ninth chapter in the The Book of Manners by Fu’ad Ibn ‘Abdul-‘Azeez Ash-Shulhoob – publisher: Darussalam) 

1.    Forbidden to eat or drink from dishes or utensils made of gold or silver  

2.    Forbidden to eat in a reclining position or on one’s stomach  

3.      When food is ready and prayer time has entered, eat first  


4.    Mentioning Allah’s name before eating or drinking and praising Allah afterwards 

5.    Forbidden to eat or drink with the left hand  

6.    Eating with one’s hand 

7.    Eating together as a group 

8.    Disliked to eat too much food or too little 

9.    Forbidden to sit at a table where alcohol is drank
